The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course will commence nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, across all 37 orientation camps in the country.
In an official update shared on its verified X handle on Tuesday, the scheme confirmed that camp registration for prospective corps members will begin on Wednesday, January 21, and run until midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026.
According to the NYSC, the Swearing-in Ceremony for the batch is scheduled for Friday, January 23, while the orientation exercise will formally end with the Closing Ceremony on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Based on my experience covering previous NYSC camps and monitoring official circulars, these timelines usually guide all camp activities, including documentation, drills, skills acquisition briefings and lectures on national unity. I cross-checked the dates using NYSC’s official communication channels to ensure accuracy.
The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, advised prospective corps members to prioritise their safety while travelling to their states of deployment. He specifically cautioned against night journeys, urging participants to plan their trips carefully.
The NYSC orientation programme is designed to promote national integration, discipline and mutual understanding among young Nigerians, while fostering interpersonal relationships across ethnic, cultural and religious lines.
